DIY face mask for a beautiful soft and glowing skin.
I was privileged to grow up with a mother who not only was always making things from scratch, but also had a herb garden wherever she lived. When I went to visit her, the ritual was to go and walk through her herb garden first, and smelling all the wonderful fragrances as she crushed the leaves. As a result, I like to potter in my grocery cupboard and garden see what I can come up with.
This morning I made myself a facial scrub/masks that was simply beautiful. You can make it from readily available ingredients. It helps if you have some sort of blender, otherwise you can buy ingredients that are already ground.
Here is what I put together this morning:
1 tablespoon oatmeal (ground it in a blender or use oatmilk)
1 tablespoon buttermilk powder (any milk powder will do, including rice milk powder)
1 tablespoon ground pecan nut powder (or almond or even flaxseed powder)
To this I added:
1 teaspoon honey (make sure it is real honey as there is a lot of fake imported honey around)
enough witch hazel and lemon juice to make a spreadable paste.
Apply to your face, neck and chest area. Scrub your face in circular motion for about a minute and then leave the mixture on for a further 20 minutes. Rinse well.
Keep the leftover in an airtight container in the fridge and use within a week.
THE BENEFITS:
Oatmeal is very soothing and skin-softening. It is full of vitamins, minerals and lipids that add moisture to benefit the condition of one’s skin
Milk contains fats and proteins which help to hydrate skin and retain moisture. It also contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that promotes cell renewal and hydrates the skin by increasing its water retention capacity.
You cannot add oil as you would then need an emulsifier, but the ground nut powder provides plenty of oil to nourish your skin.
Honey in my opinion, is one of the most amazing ingredients in skin care. It leaves your skin soft like no other ingredient does.
Witch hazel is astringent and helps to fight acne and reduces puffiness, as well as speeding up skin healing.
Lemon juice brightens the skin, helps to lighten dark marks and provides some much needed Vit C.
This concoction will leave you with a soft, glowing skin, guaranteed. Please let me know what you think.
