It is that simple 🙂
Your products seem almost too reasonably priced. How do they compare with more expensive products?
We use really good and expensive ingredients in all our products. By keeping the packaging more basic, we are able to offer them at reasonable prices.
When I started this business, I knew that I wanted to create exceptional products, but at a price that the average person could afford. After all, the average person often needs relaxation and pampering more than someone who can afford weekly spa visits. I am happy to say that since 1999, I have not deviated from this vision.
Do you test on animals?
No, we don’t. All our products are suitable for vegetarians. We are vegetarians ourselves and being kind to all beings is very important to us.
Why do you charge a flat rate for postage?
We worked out postage on the average size order. This means that you benefit from placing larger orders as your postage will remain the same.
I have never used a sugar scrub before. What am I missing?
A scrub is the quickest way to load your skin with moisture, get rid of all the dead skin cells, boost your circulation and just generally adding to a sense of wonderful well-being.
Can I use my scrub in the shower?
A scrub can be used before you get into a bath or shower, but must be used on a dry skin. Be aware that the oils will make the bath and shower floor slippery, so just be careful. I always scrub my feet right at the end and rinse them first, treading carefully.
Must I moisturize after a scrub?
It really shouldn’t be necessary, unless you have super-dry skin. The oils in the scrub are very nourishing already. Don’t wash yourself too vigorously after a scrub, that way you leave enough oils to be soaked up by your thirsty skin.
How often can I use a scrub?
You should ideally use a scrub 2 to 3 times a week. It is important not to wet your skin first. That way you can scrub as long as you like. The sugar will dissolve on a damp skin and you will not be able to indulge to your heart’s content.
What is the difference between your body butter and lotion?
The lotion is light but moisturising with a lot of jojoba oil which sinks in easily. It is ideal for summer or if you have an oily to normal skin. The body butters are very rich and thick and although it absorbs easily too, it is for people with very dry skin and a must-have for winter.
The great news is that both are suitable for people with sensitive skin, both contain no mineral oil or parabens and both are cost-effective. Unlike with mineral oil which forms a layer on top of your skin, plant oils absorbs and your skin remains moisturised throughout day.
The best time to apply a lotion or body butter is just after getting out of the bath, on a dry or slightly damp body.
What can I do for extremely dry hands?
You have two choices: our body butter, or in extreme cases, our foot cream. Some of our customers with cracked, painful skin around their fingernails, have reported back that they had great results with the foot cream. We would specifically recommend Lavender Spearmint for that.
I have very dry skin in general. What can you recommend?
We always recommend that you start by cleansing yourself with a product that will not be drying your skin. The biggest culprit is often your soap or body wash. Handmade soaps are brilliant for counteracting dry skin. Start with a goatsmilk olive, rooibos & honey, calming calendula or oatmeal, milk & honey soap. You can either complement that with a bath chocolate or apply bath butter on the dry areas before getting into the bath or shower. Lastly, apply some body butter and your skin will feel great!
My husband’s feet are very cracked. We have tried many things but nothing really helps. What can we do?
Our foot creams are really, really good. Rooibos tea, honey, cocoa butter, coconut oil and more all work together to sort out cracked heels. You will start seeing a difference within days. A wholesale customer tested our cream on her one foot and an expensive imported foot cream on her other foot for a week. She phoned me to tell me about her experiment and told me that her foot treated with our cream was in a much better condition than the other one.
We have often had this type of feedback through the years. Many years ago a lady came to show me her feet that February. Not quite knowing what was going on, I commented that her heels looked very good. With tears in her eyes she told me that I do not understand, her feet were sore and bleeding and she struggled to walk. Her husband gave her one of our foot creams for Christmas and this is what they look like now. Feedback like that makes everything worth while!
What can I use for sore muscles after working out?
The very best thing you can do for yourself, is to have a long soak in our Angel Breath bath salt. The Kalahari salt, magnesium sulphate and eucalyptus, lemongrass and lavender aromatherapy oils will help to draw out the aches and pains. Follow this up with our Overworked Muscles massage oil and you should feel brand-spanking new in no time.
Does your soap lather?
Whether a soap lathers well or not, is totally dependent on its ingredients. Some oils contribute greatly to lather, others not much. We have a well-formulated soap that is not only moisturising and long-lasting, but also has great lather.
I have found that some handmade soap melts away and some lasts very long. Why is that?
Firstly, it is important for any handmade soap to dry out well between use. Leave it in a well-draining soap dish or put it on its shortest side.
Secondly, the oils used to make the soap will contribute to how long it lasts. Whilst a pure olive oil soap is very moisturising and gentle, it will melt away quicker than a soap made with harder oils.
Thirdly, the amount of water left in the soap will help determine its lifespan. The less water, the longer it will last. This is one of the reasons why we offer buy 4 get the 5th one free, they will last a very long time. On average, one of our soaps should last 4 to 6 weeks for one person using it every day with a face cloth.
Fourthly, some soaps sold as natural handmade soaps are not what they claim to be. A glycerin soap will melt away much quicker than a well-made true soap.
What soap can I use on my baby?
We wholeheartedly recommend our olive oil and goats milk soap. It is very gentle on baby’s precious skin. Just be careful not to get it into the eyes, as being soap, it will sting.
I am allergic to fragrance. Do you have soaps that I can use?
Yes, we specialize in dry and allergic skin. Start with our pure olive oil and goats milk soap. It has no added colour or fragrance. You can then try one of our soaps with gentle aromatherapy oils, eg. the rooibos & honey or calming calendula soap. We have had very positive feedback from customers with this same problem.
Why don’t you sell bubble bath?
We have unfortunately not been able to make a bubble bath from natural ingredients that satisfy the high standard we set for our products. We are not prepared to use ingredients that may cause thrush and be an irritant to the skin. Many of our customers have commented on the fact that they can use our products without getting infections. We are grateful that we can supply you with indulgent bath products that are good for you too.
Do you do bridal and baby shower favours? And wedding favours?
Yes, we do. Contact us and we can discuss what you are looking for. As we make everything ourselves from scratch, we can be somewhat flexible and innovative.
